Victims and NGOs withdraw from Torture Inquiry.
Many NGOs and those who claim they have been tortured will take no part in the Torture Inquiry because they believe it lacks credibility and transparency.
The NGOs and the victims pointed to the Inquiry's lack of control over evidence that will be made public, since that decision will instead be taken by Cabinet Office. They also stated that they would not be able to question intelligence officials and that they would not be given evidence that they were tortured, even if the Inquiry holds such evidence. The Inquiry maintained it would continue.
